Ease-y does it
Summer lounge that feels like a sigh of relief
Imagine it’s a slow, Saturday morning. You’re sipping your second mug of coffee and starting to think about breakfast. You’ll scramble a couple of eggs and toast a slice of farmer’s market sourdough. After that, you’ll take the dog on a walk. What are you wearing?
Or imagine it’s a Friday evening, around 8pm. It’s your first week in a while without plans, and it’s refreshing. The sun just set, you’re sitting outside with your beau and a glass of crunchy Sauv. B. You have a light blanket nearby, in case it gets chilly. What are you wearing?
What are you wearing for your evening walk, while you’re getting ready for a date night, or during that post-shower, pre-pajama time of day?
‘Summer break’ might be a thing of the past for most of us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t loosen things up and build calm into the season.
The days are stretching out, and so are we: on a chaise in the sun with an iced tea + print magazine (Architectural Digest for me, please). With a leisurely read + a herby candle burning nearby.
Our loungewear should meet us where we’re at. In the scenarios described above, I want to be wearing something that feels like a deep breath. A sigh of relief. I don’t want to feel stuffy. I don’t want to feel sloppy. I want to feel at ease.
The Ease-y Edit:
The pieces I want to be wearing all summer long for those restful, reset moments that really are THE moment…
It’s less about owning X, Y, and Z, and more about curating your closet with your downtime in mind. What would be a no-brainer to throw on, but still make you feel great—that’s the goal.
Ease-y outfits:
A cotton sweater + sweatshorts
Here I am waxing poetic about summer sweaters again. It’s from growing up in Minnesota, where the highs rarely surpassed the 80s. Januarys might’ve been brutal, but Julys were heavenly. There’s nothing better than pulling on a cotton crewneck and soft shorts before heading out to the bonfire.

A terrycloth sweatshirt + boxer shorts
It doesn’t get ease-ier than a souvenir sweatshirt from summer vacation. Add a pair of poplin boxer shorts, and you’re ready to relax like it’s your full-time job. I’ll admit, the older I get the less comfortable I feel walking around in boxers outside a certain radius of my home. But they’ve still maintained a spot in my wardrobe for when I’m in my space or just going around the block.

A pointelle tank + poplin pants
Opposites attract. My husband prefers salty, I prefer sweet… we complete each other. Pointelle is soft, poplin is crisp… they belong together.

A cotton button-up + jersey pants
This outfit is weightless, like wearing air. A button-up shirt so perfectly oversized it floats on your frame without swallowing you up, paired with buttery pants that just skim your skin. Talk about taking a load off.

A graphic tee + striped sweats
We all want to lean into our preppy, nauti sides every now and again, don’t we? Sailor striped sweatpants get you halfway there, but I’d recommend bringing it home with a sailboat tee. Lobsters or lighthouses also work.

What about shoes?
After last week’s post, I influenced myself to buy Birkenstocks again. I’d gone a few summers without a pair and honestly, why did I put myself through that? The arch support is such a game changer for my morning dog walks.
The other shoe I find myself slipping on constantly? I bet you could guess. Havaianas. Their site was down and they went MIA for a while, but…they’re back!! PHEW!
Ease in effect…
Let’s collectively take an exhale and let out all of that stale air. Now take a deep inhale, filling up your lungs, and slowly let it all out. Are your shoulders raised? Are you holding any tension in your body? Have I been taking too many CorePower Sculpt classes? Yes to all of the above! I hope you savor the moments of ease in your day, and are dressed accordingly.

I know I keep saying this BUT I THINK THIS WAS MY FAVORITE ONE YET😮💨
First of all, reading your intro as I took my second sip of coffee was an actual, transportive delight. I was THERE.
Second of all, the way my whole body was hoping that blanket was going to be a barefoot dreams ☁️
Third of all, I should have known we’d be spiritually aligned on Birk / Haivanas. It makes so much sense.
This is EXACTLY how I like to dress and the content I love to read about dressing. Thank you for existing!!! ✨
Love all the comfies. The men’s Ralph Lauren shirts are on my radar to test out. I miss Core Power soo much, can’t wait to take a class when I’m back in Minnesota next month!
