July is next week???
I figure it is now or never to publish some summer-y drafts I’ve been nurturing. It’s scary to think how many of us will begin anticipating fall in a mere month. I’ll try to hold off until around October, but no promises lol.
This Vintage St. John round up has been a labor of love. My affinity for eBay is no secret, and my hope today is to share a little bit of that love with you.
I have found some GREAT vintage pieces with beautiful, classic designs and high-quality compositions, across a range of sizes, and almost all are under ~$50.
It can be hard to see the vision and get inspired from a blurry listing photo, so I also put together how I would style a handful of these pieces, using what you probably already have at home1. Sometimes all it takes is seeing an item in a different context to realize the potential (or lack thereof).
As a general rule with my newsletter, I try to avoid link heavy content. The last thing I want to do is encourage purposeless shopping. BUT if you are looking for some quality, affordable, vintage pieces to add character to your closet, this one is for you <3.
Especially after losing count of the hours put in, I’ve decided to add a paywall to the second half of this letter. There is no pressure to subscribe, I know this is a saturated space, and the middle child in me wants to just send you in the direction of other more talented writers instead (looking at you
and ). But thank you SO MUCH if you do. I plan to continue to write weekly for ALLLL y’all. XxWithout futher ado! This will be fun!!
Pointelle Knit Dress (size S)
Adore this color, and really all things pointelle. I would wear this with a chic, minimal sandal to contrast the bohemian vibe of the dress.
Other boho crochet finds:
Open Crochet Sweater, M, $27
Cream Crochet Tank, S, $12
Bedazzled US Flag Tee (size M) & Butter Yellow Knit Shorts (size 2)
This tee is the culprit for starting my entire vintage St. John spiral. I saw it on the TheRealReal, hearted it, thought of it often, and was disappointed when it sold quickly. In desperation, I did a reverse google image search which found me several more affordable options on eBay. After combing through I realized this St. John label really has it going on! I either have an unpopular opinion or I found a hidden gem, I’ll let you decide ;).
As for the shorts, who isn’t into butter yellow right now and who doesn’t long for a more comfortable short option in their closets?
Other comfy shorts:
Ivory Knit, 8, $24
Cobalt Knit, 6, $44
Blue & Green Knit Dress (size M)
The keyhole neckline and colors drew me in. I would wear this as a beach coverup (but wouldn’t limit it to that).
Lace Maxi Skirt (size M)
Are you sensing the bohemian theme? If you have the Ancient Greek Jelly Flats, this is a great opportunity… but any pop of color at the feet would be fun with this skirt, and a simple tee.
Pink Halter Top (size 12).
Summer is for slinky tops! This one immediately caught my eye. I would pair with a black mini skirt, a casual shoe for friction, a dainty bag, and consider going all in with seashell earrings if you have them.
