In anticipation of starting a new job, I have spent a lot more time considering office-appropriate attire. I am excited about the necessity of putting myself together every day and seeing how my style (effortless, sporty, high-contrast) translates into business casual.
Instead of searching for workwear-specific outfits, I collected looks I love and I think could pass in the office… with some minor tweaks :)
My go-to’s for inspiration are always Gabriella Gofis, Larissa Mills, Tori Shilney, Rita Monteveum, clothes are friends, and Arielle Charnas.
The inspo & the why… (moving left to right & top to bottom)
Love the fit of these pants, the monochromatic look, and the high-top Converse
The pop of color in the shoes is what I’m into
This outfit has every piece I’m dying for in my closet right now: the Jenni Kayne Cooper Cardigan, Nili Lotan Shon Pants, and classic loafers
Chic accessories elevate this otherwise simple look in a stunning way
Very into the juxtaposition of the sweatshirt with the trousers and loafers
Unexpected layering on top and at the feet
Love how she matches the belt and shoes here, and the sprinkle of jewelry
Amazing outfit formula: red striped button down + red shoe
The claw clip as a non-hair accessory made me do a double take; I am also inspired by the chic pairing of black and brown
Gwenyth Paltrow rocking navy and making me want to do the same
The silver statement belt my closet needs
Taking notes on the luxe leopard print jacket downplayed by the casual cap
Texture juxtaposition
Elegant pieces with casual styling (ie untucked sweater)
See previous note, and raise it a colorful shoe
The only photo that has ever made me want a sweater vest- leave it to Larissa!
Oversized sweater tucked in and belted- yes!
What I love in this photo is the pointed-toe shoe, styled in an easy way
Giant sweatshirt, giant bag, giant shoes… tiny bottoms <3
Blazer and dress are almost the same length and I LOVE it
Pop of red in bag form… this was never a trend for me
& 5. The grey sweater over the shoulders and intentional jewelry drew me in.
White denim + a colorful shoe= fab outfit formula
Recurring themes I’m taking note of:
Oversized pieces
The juxtaposition between fancy and casual in the same outfit
Statement belts
Colorful shoe choices
Never skip jewelry
Monochromatic looks
I made a list of all of the basics that made up these outfit ‘formulas’:
This list will go in my notes so as I shop I am mindful of the looks I want to recreate and the gaps in my closet.
Finds for the pieces above to come later!
xx, elle
My obsession with Larissa runs DEEP
